The deal will see the operator offer a new ‘Global United’ tariff to customers in Bulgaria, which will include promotional bundles as well as dedicated Manchester United mobile content.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
On the new tariff consumers will be able to access exclusive news, interviews over its mobile network as well as a new campaign site in Bulgarian and English, specifically tailored for local support.
Richard Arnold, commercial director at Manchester United says: This is a ground-breaking partnership for the club as it is the first mobile company we have teamed up with in Europe and Globul’s growing customer base is an ideal way for Manchester United to reach out to its 53 million fans in Europe.”
Globul is the first company in Eastern Europe to sign such a deal with the football club, which has recently agreed similar partnerships with Du in the United Arab Emirates, Beeline in Vietnam and Zong in Pakistan.
United has been capilatising on its appeal as one of the world’s most popular clubs in the world to attract sponsors in recent years and ranks third behind Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona in Deloitte’s European Football Money League with revenues of €367m euros (£307m) for the 2010-2011 season.
