The new home soccer jersey is mostly sky-blue with black and white details on it. Puma Special 25th Anniversary Soccer Jersey

THE Sky Blues will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the club picking up the FA Cup by wearing a 1987-style strip for this season’s third round tie against Southampton.

The blue and white striped shirt with navy shorts and sky socks is a throwback to the season when City overcame all the odds to make it through to the final where they beat Tottenham 3-2 at Wembley.

Should Coventry progress through the rounds this season, they will wear the kit for home matches and, where possible, on their travels too.

And City fans can buy a limited edition replica of the shirt but just 1,987 are being made and are expected to be snapped up quickly.

Some may notice the club’s kit sponsor City Link is missing from the replica shirt.

To protect the heritage of the shirt City Link kindly agreed to not have their logo on the 1987 limited edition shirts celebrating the historic cup win. However the logo will be added to the players’ shirts being worn during Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Southampton.

Justin Tose, commercial director at Coventry City, said: “The cup final win in 1987 is the greatest moment in the club’s history and it’s right that those achievements should be honoured.

“It was a fantastic era for the club and that blue and white striped shirt is synonymous with the famous victory.

“The day we take on Southampton will be almost 25 years to the day that George and John’s Coventry City beat Bolton Wanderers in the third round to begin that great journey.

“So we will take that opportunity to celebrate that time and the shirt will be part of that. We are also ordering in a very limited number of replicas to allow City fans to buy and we believe it will be popular.”

The new kits of the 2011 Aperura runner-ups where presented yesterday at the Corona Stadium in presence of over 300 club fanatics. The new kits designs were inspired on those worn in the 1986 and 1987 seasons having a classic design and specially personalized for the guerreros (“warriors”).

The new home soccer jersey keeps its traditional green and white horizontal stripes. Soriana which is club’s current sponsor runs across the middle of the shirt in green letters with a white background just below he chest line. The white Puma logo is on the upper right while the club’s badge is in the center below the neck-line. It has a round white collar neck followed by green shoulders. The sleeves keeps shirt’s traditional stripes with no hems and a green Puma cat on its sides.

The new away soccer jersey keeps home’s same template with a different design, in this case the main colors is a distinctive blue named, azul acero (blue steel). On the front side of the shirt there is a darker vertical blue band that goes form top to bottom. Soriana in this case is green with a blue background. The green Puma logo is on the upper right while the club’s badge is in the center. It has a green round collar neck, no details on its shoulders and followed by blue sleeves with live touches of green on its front , and the Puma cat on its sides.

The Ghana Away Football Shirt is a brand new design from Puma for the 2012-13 international season and will be worn by players such as Essien and Muntari in the 2012 African Nations Cup.  It is red in color fading into yellow with yellow trims. The shirt is made from 100% polyester using Puma’s unique USP-Dry fabric technology and is a short sleeved design.  Other features include embroidered Puma logos, a stitched Ghana national crest.  The Ghana Away Football Shirt is an official product manufactured by Puma under license for the team.

Last week they have presented its new home kits for the coming 2012/13 seasons, and today it is now time to present its new away kit made by the sportswear clothing company Puma.

The new away soccer jersey is all yellow with green details on it.  The front side of the shirt has a yellow color at the top that changes to green at almost the chest level all the way to the bottom of it. The green Puma logo is in the center just below the neck area, and in between Cameroon’s national badge (Right), and a green lion crest (Left). It has a yellow round collar neck green sides on the back of it, dividing it from its shoulders. The sleeves have shirt’s same color with the green Puma logo on its sides

In Italy’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Uruguay, the City star appeared for the second half of the game wearing the Azzurri’s old shirt, rather than the swanky brand new one which had been unveiled in the run-up to this game, and which he had worn for the first-half.

Only after a stoppage, when the striker was booked for a foul on Diego Perez, were the Italian staff able to get the striker to change his top.
