Warrior Sports has made its second major entry into the football market by agreeing a five-year kit deal with leading Spanish Primera Division club Sevilla.
The deal takes effect from July 2013 and means that Warrior will design the official shirts of Sevilla, as well as its training kit and various sporting collections for the following five seasons. The agreement marks the American firm’s first Spanish football partnership and comes after it agreed a six-year partnership with English Premier League club Liverpool in January.
“Sevilla is a club that is not only rich in heritage, but also a club that has had great success on the pitch during its more than 107-year history,” said Ben Haworth, director of global football marketing at Warrior Sports. “With a presence in La Liga, we have the ability to connect with a new legion of football fans, which allows us to continue fulfilling our commitment to take the Warrior brand further into the market of global football. We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Sevilla FC and we will continue strengthening our portfolio with excellent teams and players across the world in the next months.”
Sevilla’s general sub-director of administration, Manuel Vizcaino, said the agreement with Warrior forms “a very important step in the internationalization of our club”. He added: “Without a doubt, this agreement is possible thanks to the relevance that Sevilla FC has had on the European football stage in recent seasons due to its recent success. The link with Warrior brings great satisfaction to our entity, because we are proud that they have chosen us to enter the Spanish market. It will also allow Sevilla to join of some of the most high-profile clubs in the world.”
